England vs Malaysia

Finally two "Good Samaritans" who mugged a Malaysian student during the London riots were jailed today.

Jailed ... Reece Donovan and John Kafunda

They robbed him of a PSP games console and ten games worth £500

Ashraf Rossli

Malaysian were shocked to see the footage of Ashraf in youtube, including Ashraf’s father. So what did his father say on that matter?

I know a loving father will get angry when his beloved son was hit and robbed in broad daylight, would utter such statement to England. I would get angry if I were in his shoe but saying all of them lazy?? I guess it’s too much. It’s an isolated incident, done by a group of inconsiderate peoples…There are more people who are supporting Ashraf in England. They even condemn the act as much as we do. These are some comments from them when they knew the robbers will be jailed…

However, one comment caught my attention…

Yes, I found it hilarious and I bet you do. Again, there’s always some who are very cynical when they see foreigners (migrant..) in England. Are they much different than us? Do we treat foreigners fairly here? Are our systems superior than those in England that all Malaysian aren’t lazy? Such incident never happens in Malaysia? Food for thought…It happens elsewhere around the world, including Malaysia alright…*ahem!

Gospel Of St Barnabas

I didn’t realize that tomorrow is Friday, and since this is Lent season there’ll be Station of The Cross in my church(haven’t attend one this year, will do tomorrow…). I couldn’t stop thinking of the most controversial findings last month. One of the hot topics last month, the discovery of “The Gospel of Barnabas”. The re-discovering of this gospel has stirred much controversy around the world. It would rewrite the whole history of the world. Let’s check out the gospel first…

I was keen on to check the validity of the gospel and I found some interesting facts.
1.       The Gospel of Barnabas is promoted as an original Gospel written by the man named Barnabas who it is claimed was a disciple of Jesus. Thus they claim it was written by a Jewish man in the 1st century A.D. who travelled with Jesus. If Barnabas really is the author then it is reasonable to expect that he would be FAMILIAR with the basic facts of Jewish life at this time.

2.       The word (Christ) is the Greek translation for the Hebrew word (Messiah). Both these words when translated into English mean the Anointed One or the Chosen One. This word is not an obscure or rarely used word; on the contrary it is one of the most FAMOUS WORDS IN THE JEWISH AND CHRISTIAN religions. There is no doubt that a religious JEW LIKE BARNABAS would have been very familiar with this word.

3.       At the very start of the Gospel of Barnabas Jesus is called the CHRIST: God has during these past days visited us by his prophet Jesus Christ. However, throughout the gospel Jesus denies being the Messiah: Jesus confessed and said the truth, "I am not the Messiah". How can Jesus BE THE CHRIST AND DENY BEING THE MESSIAH when BOTH WORDS MEAN EXACTLY THE SAME THING? Whoever wrote this book did not know the Greek meaning of the word Christ is Messiah. Barnabas was a Hebrew who lived on the island of Cyprus, a Greek-speaking island, and travelled around the 1st century Greek-speaking world! He was Hebrew and knew Greek and COULD NOT HAVE MADE THIS MISTAKE with such a famous word.

To me, since I believe in science, carbon dating of the gospel is the most definitive answer for the authenticity of the book.

Shoelace tips

I bought new shoelace (1st time buying…) the other day and to my surprise, it comes in different styles. It amused me at first but then I realized that I’ve never really give too much thought to the shoelace trend all this while. I mean, I see people wearing colorful shoelace and tie it differently but really, I never see it coming. Perhaps it’s because I prefer the traditional, neat, white (sport shoes) or black (formal shoes) lace. The only colorful shoe lace in my closet is for football boot.
Anyway, I’d like to share some tips regarding shoelace…There are various type of shoelace; round, flat, LED etc. You may go to the nearest store and check it out.

Colorful shoelace…
Now, the lacing method…I didn’t know much but this is what I found…

Whoa! You got to try it one by one…some are really cool to try!

LED shoelace…not sure if you can find it here (Sarawak…)

Well, that’s a wrap. See you next time…

Mammoth dream

Woolly mammoths 'will be brought back to life' by cloning

back from the grave...

SOUTH Korean scientists have revealed plans to clone a WOOLLY MAMMOTH from remains frozen for thousands of years in Siberia.

A research lab led by controversial cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-Suk said it would attempt to implant DNA from the extinct mammal into an elephant egg cell to create a new embryo.
They hope it will lead to the birth of a new baby mammoth for the first time since the prehistoric giants last roamed the earth 10,000 years ago.

Sooam Biotech Research Foundation said today it had signed a deal with Russia's North-Eastern Federal University to cooperate on the project.

Scientists will attempt to "restore" cells taken from mammoth remains that were entombed in ice until they were recently uncovered by the thawing permafrost.

First they must find well-preserved tissues with undamaged genes, such as bone marrow. The next step is to replace the nucleus of an Indian elephant egg cell with the mammoth DNA.
If all goes to plan, test tube embryos will be implanted in an elephant's womb and the first woolly mammoth would be born 22 months later.

Sooam researcher Hwang In-Sung said: "The first and hardest mission is to restore mammoth cells.
"This will be a really tough job, but we believe it is possible because our institute is good at cloning animals."

The lab has successfully cloned living animals including a cow, a cat, dogs, a pig and a wolf, but using ancient DNA from a long-extinct species has never been done.

Hwang Woo-Suk, who created the world's first cloned dog Snuppy in 2005, was a national hero in South Korea until some of his research into creating human stem cells was found in 2006 to have been faked.
He was given a two-year suspended sentence for misuse of research funds and ethical lapses.
But last October Hwang unveiled eight successfully cloned endangered American coyotes.
Sooam said it hoped to complete the restoration of mammoth cells by the end of the year.

Hwang Woo-Suk with Snuppy...

wish to see this come true in my lifetime...

IRT: Lisa Kelly (Andes)

Three teams of North American truckers take on South America's Andes Mountains, where they're out to prove they have what it takes to haul any load over any road. Veterans and rookie drivers alike will have to battle thick Amazon jungles, landslides, and cliffside routes where any mistake can be fatal. It's only the first trip, but already the roads are forcing even the most seasoned veterans to second-guess their decision to challenge "The Death Road."

Why am I watching IRT? Simply because of Lisa Kelly (this is my third post of Lisa). Lisa, the “queen of the ice roads,” pulled out all the stops last season on India’s deadliest roads, but South America is a whole new ballgame. Will she be able to stay strong while the Andes push her fear to new heights, or will she be forced to give up the driver’s seat? Can’t wait to watch the first episode soon in History Channel…

Used vs Loved

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr. old son picked up a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car. In anger, the man took the child's hand and hit it many times; not realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father.....with painful eyes he asked, 'Dad when will my fingers grow back?'

The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times. Devastated by his own actions...sitting in front of the car he looked at the scratches; the child had written 'LOVE YOU DAD'. Imagine that....

Anger and Love have no limits; choose the Love to have a beautiful, lovely life.

Things are to be used and people are to be loved, but the problem in today's world is that: people are used and things are loved. Let's be careful to keep this thought in mind: "Things are to be used, but People are to be loved".

Be yourself.... This is the day we HAVE. Make it a GREAT day!

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Wishing you to have a wonderful day!

Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL!
