I am very intrigue with the remark made by our Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Richard Riot Jaem yesterday. Commenting on the number of Malaysian arrested overseas for being drug mules, he blamed Facebook and Twitter as the culprit saying such facilities were rearing their ugly heads for those who could not choose between ‘good and bad’. He cited as example the most recent case involving a 22-year old student from Betong studying at a college in Kuala Lumpur, who was arrested in China. This is the LOLest news I’ve read from newspaper today…wahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha!
Why am I laughing? Well, first of all, Facebook and Twitter is a medium for social networking. Even before Facebook and Twitter exist, the number of Malaysians arrested overseas is huge thus no correlation between Facebook/Twitter and number of Malaysian arrested for drug mules. The recent case involving a 22-year old student (I repeat, an ADULT and a BRAINY student) is just another ordinary case of greedy people trying the easiest opportunity to get rich! I assume all 22-year students in our country could not choose between ‘good and bad’ when they are using Facebook and Twitter.
Moreover, I assume Facebook/Twitter provide free passport, pocket money, a bag consisting drug and transportation for student to become drug mule, thus explains why our DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER blaming Facebook and Twitter as the CULPRIT!! Bravo minister! Even Detective Conan can't crack this case like you do...
Deputy Foreign Minister
